Our founder, designer and potter Will is a city kid, born and bred here in NYC. A maker at heart and by trade, Will has been working with his hands to refine his crafts since boyhood and formally through art school. At work in the daytime with clay and into the nighttime at home with wood and leather and gold, he is always making.
In 2013 Will founded New York Stoneware, an urban production pottery focused on everyday objects and tableware. With an eye toward simple gestures and a love of honest craftsmanship, Will and his small team of artisans create handmade, heirloom-quality pottery that is both functional and soulful. Will purposefully keeps the company small so that he can maintain the level of craft and attention to detail to each and every pot that leaves his studio-- as any true craftsman would (New York Stoneware).
